Ferragosto begins on August 15 and spans a two-week period in which many professionals across Italy involved with tourism take a vacation. Restaurants and some shops are often closed during this time. In Rome, on the evening of August 15 (the Feast of the Assumption), le piazze are filled with the performances of professional dancers for the Gran Ballo di Ferragosto. Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure (Matera)
