The Bird Festival (Sagra dei Osei) is surely the most ancient of its kind and one of the oldest festivals in Italy and Europe. In fact, the first historical records date back to 2nd August 1274. The prestigious goal of seven centuries of life for the event, which was achieved several years ago, confirms the charm and success of the Bird Festival. Born as a market, over the years it has turned into a song festival which has inspired many artists and writers. Today it is a national exhibition-market and its song competition is famous all over Europe. Owing to the presence of many aviary and ornamental birds, it is the most important European bird event and crowns the best bird in show. To end the event, there will be the Mangialonga (eating marathon), a food and wine itinerary that takes place along the streets of Sacile, stopping at the various restaurants and inns of the town.
