Ever wanted to time travel to 15th century Italy? Well, good news! You can finally get the chance by taking a trip over to the San Martino della Vaneza Castle in Padua (also known as Padova). Every June the town gathers for the Palio dello Sparviero. A renaissance fair that begins on the 14th with dinner in a tavern enjoying copious amounts of meat and an abundance of wine. During the 3 day festival, the castle’s garden is used as space for performers, jesters, ancient crafts booths, and a parade all leading up to the reenactment of the war between Padua and Venice before the town came under venetian rule.
