Genzano (Rome): Flower Festival

The people in the town of Genzano, to the south of Rome, are gathering for the annual infiorata, a three-day flower festival that coincides with the religious holiday of Corpus Christi, aka Corpus Domini, 60 days after Easter. The tradition, celebrated since 1778, calls for a rug made entirely of flowers and flower petals that covers over 20,000 squared feet. This year’s guest artist is a Roman-born sculptor by the name of Lorenzo Quinn, son of famous Hollywood actor, Anthony Quinn.
