Italo and Uber Collaborate for New Travel Service in Rome and Milan

Italo and Uber’s new joint venture will cover travelers “from the first to last mile of their trip.”

On June 18, Italo announced a new collaboration with Uber that will transform travel for those traveling by train. Italo, one of the leading train companies in Italy, will offer the possibility of booking an Uber Black or Uber Van from 90 days up to 1 hour before a trip. The service is available for departure or arrival at Roma Termini, Roma Tiburtina, Milano Centrale, Rogoredo(Milan) and Rho Fiera (Milan) stations. Reservations can be made under “Uber Reserve” on the app.

Italo’s Gianbattista La Rocca says this collaboration will cut waiting times outside the stations, and will simplify travel and make the entire duration of trips more secure. Dora Bonadies on Italo’s Marketing and Development team calls this partnership “innovative” and “technologially advanced.” The Italo and Uber apps will  communicate with each other and the transition from train to car will be seamless. You won’t need to re-enter your information for pickup times and stations as the train ticket info in the Italo app will alert the Uber app.

This gives a sense of hope and a glimpse at a better future for those traveling to and from Italy’s main cities as, especially in Rome, taxi service can be unreliable and official cars are sometimes hard to come by with many scams in place to trick unsuspecting tourists and locals alike with gouging prices and elongated routes.

All Italo users who register with the Uber app for the first time and use the service in the aforementioned stations will get 50% off their first three trips.
