Once believed to be extinct, the pallagrello grape was rediscovered in the 1990s and resurrected at Vigna del Ventaglio, the royal palace’s winery. Today, this tiny one-acre vineyard produces about 1,000 bottles of refreshing white wine per year. The wine is produced, sold and served by Tenuta Fontana, a winery with a tasting room (reservations required) in the town of Carinaro near Caserta.
