For 500 years, the town of Moiano in Campania’s Benevento province has been the honored home and keeper of a cherished Madonna della Libera statue. September 8 is the feast day for this Madonna Nera and descendants of Moiano emigrants return to honor their Blessed Mother. The chapel of the Madonna della Libera inside the town’s San Pietro Apostolo church was recently named a sanctuary under official recognition by the bishop, bringing confirmation of the town’s adoration and devotion.
