Christmas is coming to Catania December 8th. The city’s fairgrounds transform into a Christmas village complete with a Christmas Disco, a cinema playing Christmas movies, bands, parades twice a day and meet-and-greets with beloved characters from children’s films. The Christmas Village will be Southern Italy’s largest, covering about two and a half acres of land.
Kids can take a ride on a train, build with Legos and listen to the Nutcracker band play music from the classic holiday favorite. In a unique holiday adventure, in the planetarium, you will be able to see the track the comet the Three Kings followed towards Bethlehem. A huge indoor ice rink (this is Sicily after all- ice is no match for Sicilian sun even in winter!) glittering with Christmas cheer will be open to skaters.
Santa Claus himself, Babbo Natale in Italian, will be there, too, of course. Knock on the door of his house and his helpful elves will open the door and let you in. In Santa’s village, there will be a stable full of talking reindeer.
Catania’s Christmas magic runs from December 8 to December 30, 2023. Tickets are available online here. Hours vary based on the day, so please check the ticket website for up-to-date information.
