From the TV Show: Beadstringing Lesson in Venice

In the Venice episode of the second season of Dream of Italy on PBS, Kathy enjoyed a uniquely Venetian experience stringing beads!

As an impiraressa (bead stringer), Marisa Convento takes the glass beads made by the perlera (bead maker) and turns them into jewelry, embroidery and ornaments. To learn her craft, take the three-hour Beadstringer for a Day class (72€ per person) and practice traditional beading techniques. Or, take the whole family to the two-hour family workshop (48€ per person) to learn easy beading methods. Convento also offers custom classes depending on guests’ interests. Book online at italianstories.it or visit her shop Venetian Dreams at Calle de la Mandola, 3805A. The shop is open Tuesday to Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m. in winter, and in summer (starting March 1) Monday to Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. For more information, visit: marisaconvento.it.
