From the TV Show: Rialto Market in Venice

In the Venice episode of the second season of Dream of Italy on PBS, Kathy explores the famous Rialto market!

The historic Rialto Market, located at the foot of the iconic Rialto Bridge, has been supplying Venice with fresh produce, seafood, and spices since the 11th century and is still as vibrant as ever. Locals come daily to the Erberia (vegetable market) to buy fruits and vegetables, much of which comes from the surrounding islands or region of Veneto, and to the Pescaria (fish market) for seafood plucked from the Venetian lagoon. The market opens at 7 a.m., and the height of the action is in the morning, with many vendors closing in the afternoon. The Erberia is open Monday through Saturday, while the Pescaria is open Tuesday through Saturday.
