From The TV Show: Venice Ecology Tour

Venice isn’t sinking without a fight. In the Venice episode of the second season of Dream of Italy on PBS, host Kathy McCabe learned what scientists are doing to save Venice from rising sea levels.

Scientist Luca Zaggia took us on a tour of Venice to explore its unique ecology and how the city – built on water – is fighting rising water levels. Luca is a docent for Context Travel which offers a similar Ecology of Venice Tour visiting to an historic palace, where the Serenissima Republic’s urban planning policy will be explained, and witnessing many different examples of building degradation linked to increasingly frequent flooding and chronic water level rise. Luca or one of his fellow docents identifies the various structural methods for adaptation and mitigation of these water levels. $90 per person. For more information, visit www.contexttravel.com
