In the Basilicata episode of the second season of Dream of Italy on PBS, Kathy interviews the famous Hollywood movie director, Francis Ford Coppola.
Palazzo Margherita is Hollywood director Francis Ford Coppola’s love letter to Italy and the town of Bernalda. The 9-room hotel is where Coppola sat down with Kathy for an interview about his deep ties to Basilicata and how he came to rediscover his ancestral hometown. The structure was initially built in the 19th century by a wealthy local family and Coppola and noted designer Jacques Grange into a luxurious boutique hotel. The property features a pool, exquisite walled garden, a bar dedicated to Italian movie studio Cinecittà and an eat-in kitchen where you might be joined for dinner by Coppola himself, when he is visiting.
