From The TV Show: Alessandro Dari Jewelery in Florence

In the Florence episode of the second season of Dream of Italy on PBS, Kathy visits a unique family run jewelry studio.

Goldsmith and jeweler Alessandro Dari’s family has been making jewelry in Florence since 1630. Dari puts and elaborate and nontraditional spin on the craft. Rings are his specialty and each has a spiritual significance or a connection to a myth or legend. They are topped with intricately sculpted interpretations of concepts such as space and time, or with objects such as musical instruments or the Florence’s iconic building, Palazzo Vecchio, which spins. Even if you’re not in the market to buy anything, stop in, it is just as interesting as any art museum. Visit his studio in the San Niccolò neighborhood at Via San Niccolò, 115/r.
