Lace up those running shoes, get that last swig of water and be sure to get a good stretch in; the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is in its 20th anniversary this year. The Italian branch of the organization hosts a series of events and workshops promoting good health and exercise leading up to a big race in efforts to raise money for the Foundation and breast cancer research. The event takes place in various cities in Italy throughout the year, starting in May in Rome (16th – 19th) and Bari (17th – 19th) and again in September starting in the città delle due torri, Bologna (20th – 22nd), in Pescara in Abruzzo just to the southeast (20th – 22nd), up to Brescia in the northern beauty that is Lombardy (27th – 29th), and back down to this year’s European Capital of Culture, Matera in the Basilicata region (27th – 29th).
Note: Participants can enter the race with a minimum donation that ranges between 13€ – 15€ depending on the city chosen, and can choose a 2K or a 5K run or walk.
